Ben Hunt - UR war

  • Tough guys who want to escalate NATO involvement in Ukraine - directly through a no-fly zone or indirectly through a Polish cut-out and NATO 'backfill' - are posturing for domestic politics and making it harder to win this war.

NATO involvement in Ukraine is exactly what Putin wants. It's the only thing that can save him over the long slog of Ukrainian occupation and the forced closing of the Russian economy. It's the only thing that allows him to mobilize Russian public opinion for a wider conflict.

NATO involvement in Ukraine weakens the alliance and puts Poland and the Baltics more at risk. It works directly against US interests, short-term and long-term. It's what can turn this regional tragedy into a global disaster.

Instead, we should fight on the battlefields where we have an overwhelming strategic advantage - economics and narrative. We play the long game. And we win.

  • We were early and we were right about Ukraine.

"Russia decided to invade Ukraine weeks ago, and the "diplomatic negotiations" are a sham, 100% designed for domestic narrative creation. Why? Because mobilizing narratives is as necessary for a successful invasion as mobilizing troops and tanks."
