Quantum Sensing & Symmetry-Breaking Probes
Noise as both a diagnostic signal and an obstacle: using a local quantum sensor (an NV center, a spin qubit) to read out magnetic-field noise as a proxy for electron dynamics or hidden symmetry breaking in a nearby material, and the microscopic two-level-system noise theory that underlies why such sensors — and qubits generally — decohere in the first place.
