Non-adiabatic effects

Non-adiabatic effects can excite a topological system out of its degenerate ground state. This can create errors for topological quantum computation when operating otherwise protected gates at finite time scales.

Smart control can be helpful via:

  • optimal control (minimizing non-adiabatic excitations)
  • counter diabatic driving (actively canceling non-adiabatic excitations)
